Dear Editor,
The report on “Knowledge of antibiotics among dentists” is very interesting.[1] Bhanvadia et al. concluded that “most dentists had medium knowledge in prescribing antibiotic therapy for dental infection.[1]” We would like to share ideas and experience with this interesting observation. In our country, the rational use of antibiotic by dentists is also an interesting concern. The big query is whether there is a sufficient education for the student before they graduate to be a dentist. In fact, “a lack of consistency in the knowledge and practice” is an important problem, and there is a need for setting of a good education.[2] Indeed, the curriculum might have several data, but there must be a selection on the necessary one. The dentist might not be permitted to use all kinds of antibiotics. The basic knowledge on the necessary drug that dentist must know and effectively use should be included in the curriculum. In addition, for dentist, the attendance to “lectures and workshops to stay up to date on current concepts in odontogenic infection management [3]” is also required.
